Backburner:
2019

Backburner asks the question – what happens if you let graphic designers do whatever they want – no clients, no limitations?

Designers are all different. This poster had to represent variety of work on show at Backburner 2020. We designed a dynamic base that was then individually hand rolled with ink - each and every one looked and felt truly unique.

The base illustration of the girl with the roller is a love letter to character design. Line weight and shape of the line comes together to form more than the sum of its parts. Each little detail, sparingly applied builds a sense of energy and weight of movement.

We also designed and printed the show catalogue digitally to pair with the handprinted poster series.

We still see these posters, admired, coveted (and occasionally gleefully pilfered) in various creative businesses around the state.

This project was a finalist for the 2019 Diemen Award for Poster Design.
